Booking Inquiries

Thank you for considering a performance by the Toronto Children’s Chorus for your special event!

Please take a moment to review our guidelines below before submitting your event inquiry. Submissions are reviewed regularly and take 5-7 business days for a response from our office.  You will receive an email with a copy of your submission for your records.

Event Dates

We prefer requests are made several months in advance.  Our annual program calendar is completed each year in April and this is the best time to get your event in for consideration. You may also want to check our online concert listings to see if we already have a performance scheduled on your event date.

HOLIDAY SEASON:  NOVEMBER and DECEMBER are our busiest performance months. Last minute additions to our holiday performance line-up are usually fully booked by mid-October each year.

Performance Time

Performances after school hours and evening/weekend events with a pick-up time before 9:00pm are preferable for children’s choirs. The Toronto Youth Choir is also available for bookings and may accommodate performances with later event end times.

Performance Duration

We generally perform for a minimum of two songs (10 minutes) and to a maximum of 25-30 minutes.

Honorarium

Please consider an honorarium to the Chorus in order to support our ongoing education program. Your honorarium helps to support operational costs for coming to your event, as well as learning and performance costs such as uniform expenses, sheet music, educational personnel and the many hours of rented rehearsal space needed to prepare for excellent performances. Honorariums generally range from $1,500 to $5,000 and will be discussed in advance of booking confirmation. When considering your honorarium, if multiple rehearsals or other requirements (e.g. recording sessions, production meetings, etc) are required in addition to the actual performance date, please consider the additional staffing and program costs we will incur for these additional activities. HST applies to the honorarium and your organization will be invoiced in advance by the TCC.

Sound Check

Our choir will need to rehearse in the performance space prior to the production for a minimum of 15 minutes. Please consider a sound check time as close as possible to the performance in order to minimize wait times for choristers.

Holding Room

We will require a secure holding room at your venue for our children, staff, and chaperones. This is approximately 35 to 50 people, depending on the choir.

Instruments and Risers

  • Our choirs rarely sing acapella (without instrumental accompaniment).  Please consider providing a tuned piano suitable for professional performances (upright or grand) OR an 88-key digital keyboard with a music stand and bench.

  • Our choirs can often be arranged on existing venue stairs or stage set-ups.  Performances in large venues often require risers. If your production cannot secure risers, we may be able to provide risers for your team to pick-up, set-up and drop-off.  Please make this request with your inquiry below and advise of your pick-up/drop-off dates.

Choir Size

There are between 35 to 40 choristers per choir. Please ensure your stage/performance area and holding room are spacious enough for our group.

Chorister Age

Choirs consist of children between the ages of 10 to 16 years old. Our choirs with children below the age of 10 are unavailable to perform at events. Our Toronto Youth Choir (ages 16 to 30) is also available for performance bookings.

Meals/Snacks

Meals and/or snacks make performances easier for our choristers and their families, especially between sound check and showtime. Please consider providing healthy options that are friendly to nut allergies and vegetarians.
