January 27th, 2025

The week of February 24th, Latin-American choral expert Dr Grases will be in Toronto to conduct workshops with the joint choir of TCC’s Chamber Choir, the University of Toronto Chamber Chorus, and UofT Soprano-Alto Chorus. He will be mentoring conductors, lecturing on composition and choral music, and guiding choristers and conductors in their understanding of Latin-American approaches in music-making. Their week together will conclude with a public concert at Trinity-St. Paul’s United. A highlight of the concert will be the international premiere of a new commission for treble voices and body percussion by Dr. Grases titled: Earth

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Grases to Toronto to lead our young singers to give a powerful voice to reflect the energy within the earth’s core as part of a series of compositions that reflect on nature and its parallels with humanity. And to then bring this music in performance, under his direction, to Toronto audiences. Music truly has no borders.” Zimfira Poloz, Artistic Director, Toronto Children’s Chorus
